Members of the Lake Geneva Garden Club (LGGC) convened at the Women’s Leadership Center at Williams Bay for a June meeting that saw both organizations aligning around a shared mission of advancing women’s leadership to make the world a better place.
Founded in 1915 by pioneering conservationist Frances K. Hutchinson, the LGGC has a hundred-year legacy of forwarding causes that contribute to environmental and community well-being in the Geneva Lake area. Over the decades, the club has forged an intergenerational network of women leaders that’s emerged as a powerful force for civic leadership.
The June 2026 convening of the Garden Club kicked off with a board meeting in the brand-new Council building on the Center campus. Center President and Chair Ann Drake opened the meeting by talking about her inspiration for creating the Center and its mission going forward. After her presentation and a business meeting, the gathering opened to the general membership and a presentation by botanical artist Sarah Boynton. Boynton is an award-winning exhibitor, educator and author celebrated internationally for transforming plant material into extraordinary, intricate jewelry and works of art.
Following the presentation, docents led club members on a tour of the Center campus. The gathering ended with a box lunch—and happy recognition that a common purpose animates and connects both organizations. By fostering women’s gifts for leadership—whether through conservation, education, technology, philanthropy, or exploring new worlds beyond our own—the Lake Geneva Garden Club and the Women’s Leadership Center at Williams Bay have found a colleague in working to make the world a better place.
