In July, we hosted a “hard hat tour” for members of our advisory board and community leaders from Williams Bay. They clambered through the three buildings under construction; at this point, all are fully enclosed, with roofs and windows and skylights and utilities installed.
As we welcome Fall, we’re busy putting up wood siding on the Lodge and slate shingles on the Council building. (How do you get slate shingles to curve around a curved building wall? Not easy!) We’re also taking measures to make all our many windows “bird safe.” Each is etched with a faint pattern that doesn’t limit the view looking out but prevents birds from mistakenly flying into the glass and getting injured.
Probably the most visible effort underway is installation of the walkways and paths and (soon) parking lot. All walkways will be ADA compliant. We’re also engineering our exterior lighting to be “dark sky compliant,” or providing exactly as much light as needed to move around safely, but not so much as to contribute “light pollution” to our woods.
Work continues to go well, so we’re still looking at a completion date in early 2026. We can’t wait to have the “occupancy permit” in our hands that says we can move in!
