Many talented women have helped bring the Women’s Leadership Center to life. This month, we introduce you to the women who’ve been turning our stunning designs into wood and stone, floors and ceilings, pipes and wires. An engineer by training and graduate of the highly ranked Milwaukee School of Engineering, Kimberly Schober is a Project Manager II at Pepper Construction; Jordan Quackenboss, another engineer, is overseeing the plumbing work on behalf of J.F. Ahern Co. For months, Kimberly and Jordan have been collaborating to coordinate the many trades on site. “It’s great to have the opportunity to work with other women in construction,” says Jordan, “because it’s a fairly rare occurrence.”

“This project has been inspiring to me to say the least,” adds Kimberly. “As a younger woman in a male-dominated industry such as construction, it can be hard to get heard sometimes. I feel like this project is raising awareness about the abundant power and thought women can bring to work. Plus, this has been a non-stop career development opportunity; the buildings are so unique. The complexity of the different designs and details really intrigues me.”

Jordan agrees. “It’s a very distinctive set of buildings,” she adds, “so I get to use tools and resources we don’t usually bring to our work. And personally, I think it’s great to be involved in a project that will positively impact many women in the future.”

“I think this site will be where so many influential people from all around the world gather,” says Kimberly. “It’s great to know I will have had part in creating that.”
